MY GREEN ORGANIC GARDEN
A New Sense Of Purpose
I fell into organic gardening by virtue of spirit! With retirement came time and with time came a little boredom, and this led to me deciding that I needed a new sense of purpose. I needed something new to occupy my hours and with this in mind, I decided to tidy up my small garden, which I had neglected for many years.
My Green Organic Garden
After a thorough, clean-out, I went on to create a small lawn and after a great deal of grass seed later, the lawn was complete. I then found myself trying to decide what bordering plants and small trees to plant and after this came the flowers. Then I introduced both aromatic herbs, some fruit trees and a vegetable patch and before I knew it, I was spending most of my days working in my garden. This was when I realised without really planning it; I had found the thing that was going to occupy my time. I became a full-time organic gardener spending most days in my green organic garden.
Beneficial To Both Body & Mind
Organic gardening has an extremely beneficial effect on the body and the mind and I have found it a stimulating pastime. I have often found myself just sitting in my garden surrounded by my labour of love, and then contemplating the next step in my green adventure. I also discovered that taking care of a garden is not only about getting your hands dirty, constantly watering or pulling weeds, but that there is a whole series of best practices to follow and a great deal of knowledge is needed to cultivate a successful organic garden.
Trial & Error
I started gardening with no prior experience or knowledge of horticulture! I gained a great deal of my knowledge and experience mainly through trial and error, and I often took advice from other gardeners that I came across on my green journey. One thing that always bothered me was that I could never find any good websites that addressed my many questions directly, so years later, I decided that the best way to share my knowledge was to create one.
A Ready Supply of Fresh Produce
