Several fruit and nut trees grow well in temperate climates, but here is a selection of the ones that are mosr likely to succeed

Apple Trees: (Malus domestica)
A versatile choice with many varieties that do well in temperate climates. Hardy and productive, these trees can grow in various soils and require minimal maintenance.

Pear Trees: (Pyrus communis)
This versatile tree offers two main varieties that will do well in temperate climates. The ‘Conference’ and ‘Williams’ are popular and require minimal maintenance. These trees are hardy and productive, but they do, however, prefer well-drained soil and plenty of sun.

Plum Trees: (Prunus domestica)
This versatile tree particularly the ‘Victoria’ variety, is popular and requires minimal maintenance. Plums do well in a temperate climate and require minimal maintenance. These trees are hardy and productive and thrive in a sunny position.

Cherry Trees: (Prunus avium and Prunus cerasus)
Both sweet and sour cherries can be grown successfully, and this versatile tree offers two main varieties that will do well in temperate climates. The ‘Stella’ and ‘Morello’ are both popular and these hardy and productive trees require minimal maintenance.

Peach Trees: (Prunus persica)
This versatile tree particularly the ‘Peregrine’ variety, is popular and requires minimal maintenance, but it does prefer warmer climates so a spot that receives the sun must be chosen for this hardy and productive tree.

Damson Trees: (Prunus domestica subsp insititia)
This versatile tree is hardy and productive can thrive in various conditions, producing small, tart fruits. These trees are popular and require minimal maintenance.

Fig Trees: (Ficus carica)
This hardy and productive tree suits milder climates and should be planted against a wall for warmth and shelter. This versatile tree requires minimal maintenance.

Quince Trees: (Cydonia oblonga)
Quince trees are less common but are hardy and productive, producing a unique fruit. This versatile tree requires minimal maintenance and thrives in well-drained soils.

Medlar Trees: (Mespilus germanica)
This versatile tree is both hardy and productive and requires minimal maintenance. This tree grows well in temperate climates, producing fruit that must be harvested only after it ripens well.

Hazelnut Trees: (Corylus avellana)
A whole range of nut trees do well in temperate climates, but hazelnuts in particular tend to be more hardy and productive. Hazelnut trees tend to do very well in a temperate climate and require minimal maintenance.
