THE FOUR SIMPLE STEPS OF PREPARATION

My Green Organic Garden Tips Advice & Suggestions

PREPARAING & PLANNING AN ORGANIC GARDEN

Organic gardens can be cultivated throughout the year, but the most propitious time is spring. Direct sowing should take place during March and April and the month of May is optimal for planting seedlings. Indirect sowing is more versatile and can take place throughout the year.

There are four steps of preparation

Step one: Soil Preparation
Soil preparation is the first step in cultivating any good productive organic garden and it is a very important step, in forming the foundation for any good yield.

Step Two: Fertilization
Proper fertilization improves the soil, strengthening plants and increasing the quantity and quality of the yield and I advocate the use of natural fertilizers to provide plants with the nutrients needed to grow.

Step Three: Sowing
Seeds must be planted at the right time of year taking into consideration both temperature and exposure to natural sunlight. Indirect sowing generally takes place earlier than direct sowing, which is dependent on the seasonal weather. I generally advocate a combination of both types of sowing, this way any outcome can be mitigated.

Step Four: Irrigating
Irrigation is probably the most important role of any gardener. This task must be completed methodically and at the correct times and a good gardener serves to irrigate when nature does not provide water for plants.
